This proposal is for the purchase of a High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) instrument dedicated to inorganic ions. This instrument will be used by the applicant for his works on projects related to bioremediation processes, particularly in the understanding of the microbial mechanisms a denitrification biosystem of seawater. The reasons for such proposal are the absence of dedicated HPLC in my institution for analyzing inorganic ions such as ammonium, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate, and the need of measuring such ions in the denitrification biosystem that I study. The HPLC instrument will be available to researchers, technicians, students and postdocs affiliated to my institution requiring such analyses.
