We seek funding for a steady-state fluorimeter with NIR detection capabilities to support a diverse group of productive research programs at the University of Victoria. Currently available instrumentation, purchased with NSERC RTI funding (1996) and maintained with a minor upgrade in 2007, is frequently inoperative and is has reached the end of its product lifetime. The proposed replacement will provide essential data to support the training of the 22 graduate students supervised by the co-applicants and other users of the current instrument. In addition it will provide an extended detection range to 900 nm in the near IR as required to fully characterize unique dyes with potential for applications in bio-imaging and solar energy conversion.
