The goal of this project is to develop a mechanism for allowing audio description to be made available for video-on-demand materials for access by people who are blind or low vision. Doing so involves the modification and integration of an existing tool, LiveDescribe, with the Zagga Entertainment Video-on-Demand service. LiveDescribe has been developed by the researchers involved in this proposal as a stand-alone tool and for use with YouTube by everyday users (people not trained as professional audio describers). Video-on-demand services typically do not offer accessible content for blind or low vision users and as a result are not inclusive of a wide audience. In this project we are aiming to correct this problem.
