Camosun College is pleased to announce that Camosun Innovates (formerly Camosun Applied Research & Innovation) will be partnering with Ocean Rodeo, a Victoria-based company that produces kite boarding equipment. Ocean Rodeo specializes in producing high quality, innovative kite boarding equipment, including traction kites, control bar and line sets, kite boards, harnesses, dry suits and various accessories. Ocean Rodeo holds multiple patents on its technology and sells its kite boarding equipment both nationally and internationally. With the support from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) on a Engage Grant for Colleges, Ocean Rodeo will be better able to successfully continue to grow its company in a highly competitive sector. The project is aimed at design, testing and fabrication of Harness & Control Bar Safety System for Kite boarding. At the completion of this project, Ocean Rodeo will have a new patent-able technology which will be ready for manufacturing and market release. This project will involve the assistance of a student from Camosun College's mechanical engineering technology program, where the they will help an industry partner to solve real life technological challenges.
