英文摘要
Genacol Canada Corporation Inc. manufactures a bovine-sourced hydrolyzed collagen supplement (Genacol®Original Formula), which has shown efficacy in two separate clinical trials for reducing joint pain. Followingdigestion, hydrolyzed collagen yields bioavailable amino acids and peptides that can lead to the healthpromoting properties of the supplement. There is presently no information, however, regarding the peptide andamino acid profiles generated from the digestion of the bovine-sourced Genacol collagen hydrolysate as thenature and profiles of these compounds will differ greatly depending upon of the type of processing used toproduce the collagen hydrolysate and the food source of the collagen. In the present study, the profiles of thepeptides and amino acids generated from digestive enzyme-mediated hydrolysis of the Genacol collagenproduct will be investigated using the dynamic simulated gut digestion model. This approach is the first step toascertain the bioactive components contributing towards the health promoting properties of the Genacolcollagen supplement and will aid in the development of more concentrated and potent hydrolyzed collagenproducts.
