Nova Bus is a Canadian bus manufacturer and a leading provider of sustainable transit solutions in North America. With a product range from standard 40-ft buses to high-capacity articulated Bus Rapid Transit vehicles, from clean diesel to hybrid-electric and from 100% electric to natural gas propulsion, the company's buses can meet any type of service demand on the market. Nova Bus is known as a builder of the low floor series (LFS) city buses with a hybrid drivetrain. In 2017 Nova Bus launched a fully electric heavy-duty transit bus, being tested by the Society of Transport of Montreal. In regions with harsh climate, passenger comfort requires heating the cabin with a significant portion of the energy stored. Heating the bus with a 100% electric power would require significant additional cost, volume, and weight of the battery. Nova Bus therefore wishes to develop with McGill researchers an alternative energy storage and heat production, that would prevent greenhouse gas emissions, with reduced cost, weight and size compared to batteries. ****
