英文摘要
Metallurgical Sensors Inc., located in Milton, Ontario, develops custom high-availability sensor products and integrated systems for steelmakers. We specialize in ladle slag detection, furnace slag detection, absolute length measurement, and the Metsen EVCam (a robust and reliable extreme environment camera). Our customers rely on us to solve their difficult problems while we develop pragmatic solutions and innovative products.** ** A large portion of labour in a rolling mill is spent on maintaining, repairing, and replacing work rolls. Many different rolls are used in a rolling line and it is imperative that they are tracked accurately as they are constantly cycled by multiple work crews from production to maintenance and storage. Rolls are uniquely serialized at their creation. However, during their life span, this serial number becomes difficult or impossible to read due to the wear and tear of daily machine processing. As a result, misidentified rolls result in huge cost setbacks and wasted time for the steel mill as the production process must be halted to correct the error. In addition, the wrong roll combination will destroy product and equipment if undetected prior to production startup. ** **Metallurgical Sensors Inc. has teamed with Lambton College's Information Technology & Communication Research Centre (ITCRC) to develop a reliable and easy to use system that accurately identifies work rolls and confirms that they have been properly positioned as required for the production schedule. The roll record assigned to each unique roll will contain its complete service history from cradle-to-retirement.**
