In 1998, Enviroshake set out with a mandate to create a technologically advanced product to fulfill a market niche in the roofing industry. Today that vision lives on through our engineered products the Enviroshake , Enviroshingle, and Enviroslate, which can be used for both roofing and siding purposes. All Enviroshake products are made from plastic composite materials with the Enviroshake authentically replicating the look of a natural cedar shake, the Enviroshingle emulating a natural perfection cedar shingle, and as of Spring 2014, the Enviroslate matching the look of natural slate.With a strong competency in the manufacturing of composite materials, their plastic shingles offer a better product performance than the shingles they replace. Moreover, 70% of Enviroshake's products are exported internationally. Two of the most lucrative markets for these products are in California and the UK. However, in order to enter these markets, the product must achieve a Class A Fire Rating. Currently, Enviroshake's product does not pass this evaluation. In collaboration with Lambton College and the CIMD, this project will explore alternative formulations and fire retardant additives to produce a product that will pass the Class A fire rating at an affordable cost. There are currently very few roofing products on the market with such a rating and achieving this position will establish Enviroshake as a leader in this space. The research team will include a Research Scientist, Laboratory Technician and a Research Student who will work closely with the Enviroshake team to conduct the project. The success of the project will benefit both Lambton College and Enviroshake, creating new jobs as the company expands, and boost our contribution to Canada's GDP and exported goods.
