Metal additive manufacturing, previously too costly for manufacturing SMEs, is now more affordable. This availability presents opportunities to increase time and cost efficiencies as well as unique design and manufacturing challenges to overcome, such as 3D printing parts larger than the capabilities of the new and more affordable machines. The proposed project aims to address these challenges, with a local manufacturing SME, while providing students with unique industry-relevant and practical experiences.
