The St. Clair College applied research program is strongly aligned with the needs of the Windsor-Essex industry and community, which is highly influenced by the manufacturing sector - the largest sector in Windsor-Essex by gross domestic product and employment. In particular, Automate Canada is a Windsor-based cluster of over 300 mechatronics firms within 30 to 40km of Windsor that combine machine vision, robotics and controls, custom software and digital modeling, sensor and data analysis capabilities, and automation machine building. To further build relationships with this sector and the broader Windsor-Essex manufacturing industry (including 90+ automotive parts manufacturers), this proposal requests collaborative robots and advanced automation equipment, including an autonomous AGV. With this equipment, the College will continue to build strong applied research projects with the Windsor-Essex manufacturing industry to support the innovation advancement of this sector and train St. Clair College's robotics and industrial automation students as highly qualified personnel.
