Glenergy Inc. began as a lighting company offering solutions within Canada and Africa in 2001 and have since grown to provide outdoor recreational items, solar systems and education in the field of clean energy. They have expertise in off-grid solar system design and integration, including making many lakes quieter at night by eliminating generators in Canada. Glenergy has been trying to find a way to save energy on heating and hot water as these are the largest non-transportation energy loads for most Canadians. They are proposing to conduct research on a seasonal thermal storage for hot water space heating applications. Canada is an ideal climate for this heating application as it has abundant solar radiation and high ambient temperatures in summer. Glenenergy has partnered with Lambton College's Lambton Energy Research Centre to test the concept of seasonal heat storage in large water tanks, using heat pumps at high COP to extract the heat for a hydronic heating system in winter. The propoed project in collaboration with Lambton College plans to design and build a seasonal heat storage for residential hydronic heating system. The success of the project will see substantial reductions in on-going heating costs are to be expected for home and/or business owners. It is expected that the findings of this project will be a solid foundation for the next steps of Glenergy's plan to develop a full scale prototype and conduct a market research
