We intend to acquire an Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) equipment. The ALD is absolutely critical for me to meet the goals of my NSERC Discovery Grant program to develop stable perovskite solar cells by robust ALD-deposited encapsulation films; and of my NSERC Alliance program to upscale tandem perovskite solar cells. The ALD is the only way of depositing high-quality and conformal recombination junction to create tandem perovskite solar cells. There is no ALD at the University of Victoria, or anywhere on Vancouver Island. This is going to be the first ALD on campus. 5 Early Career Researchers, including myself, are in critical need for ALD. At least 15 HQPs each year will directly benefit from the proposed equipment
