Case Studies of Cross-Cultural Communications in German Translation of Japanese Literature

翻译是一个跨文化交际的过程，其最终产物是一个能够在特定的使用场合和语境中发挥适当作用的文本。在翻译研究中，交际过程中的一些决定因素，如文本类型、目的、媒介、接受者等，对翻译过程也很重要。本研究在翻译研究成果的基础上，提出了一种翻译分析和评价的方法，并将该方法应用于实例，对日本文学翻译的源文本和目标文本进行了比较。通过比较，发现了许多跨越日德国两国语言和文化障碍的实例，并对德译日本文学的接受情况进行了报告。我访问了柏林的国家图书馆和柏林的城市图书馆，以调查柏林的图书馆拥有哪些德语翻译的日本文学作品，以及这些书籍的阅读频率。

Translation is a process of cross-cultural communication, whose end product is a text which is capable of functioning appropriately in specific situations and contexts of use. In translation studies some determinants of communication process which are also important for the translation process are now clear, for example Text-type, purpose, Medium, Receptor. On the base of results of translation studies this research proposed a method for analysis and evaluation of translation, applied this method to actual examples and compared source texts and target texts of Japanese literature translations. The comparison shows many cases which go across actual linguistic and cultural barriers between Japan and Germany.This research contains also the report on reception of Japanese literature by German translation. I visited the National Library in Berlin and a City Library of Berlin, in order to investigate, which Japanese literary works in German translation are owned by libraries in Berlin and how often these books are read.
