PROBABILISTIC RESILIENCE ASSESSMENT OF CANADIAN COASTAL INFRASTRUCTURE**UNDER SYSTEMIC-RISKS

As a result of the increased frequency and magnitude of natural hazard events in coastal areas, there has been a**growing need to ensure resilience of vulnerable coastal infrastructure systems (CIS) across the globe. This**vulnerability is attributed to the fact that different CIS components (e.g. ports, waterfronts and harbors), serving**millions of people, were not adequately designed to withstand chronic (e.g. shoreline erosion and sea level rise)**and acute (e.g. earthquakes, hurricanes and coastal flooding) hazards. This is more relevant now than ever**before because of the complex interdependency between CIS and other critical infrastructure systems such as**power, water, food, communication, transportation, and financial systems.This project will focus on developing**a framework to evaluate the resilience of Canadian CIS and mitigate risk under multiple and interacting**hazards.
