The aim of this research project is the investigation of amorphous Oxi-Nitride coatings as oxidation protection coatings for gamma-TiAl alloys. The scientific goal is to find out, whether such coatings can provide oxidation protection, so that the application temperature of these alloys can be increased beyond 900 °C. For the application of the coatings a new coating technology, the so called High Speed-PVD technology will be used. This technology enables deposition rates up to 100 micrometers per hour, which is not possible withestablished thin film technologies.
