项目摘要

真理概念を非実質的概念と捉える真理論(ラムジーの真理余剰説、タルスキの規約Tに基づく形式化された言語における真理述語の定義、ハートリー・フィールド、ポール・ホーウィッチ、スコット・ソームズらによって提唱されているデフレーション真理論)の検討を行うことを通して、非実質的真理概念に関して以下のような知見を得た。1 代表的な実質的真理概念である対応真理概念を用いていると複合文の真理を説明する際に困難に直面する(少なくとも原子文の真理と複合文の真理を分けて説明する必要が生じる)が、非実質的真理概念を用いるとこの困難は回避される。ただし、この困難の回避には必ずしも非実質的真理概念に訴える必要はなく、実質的真理概念内部でも処理可能である(例えばプラグマティズムの真理論を用いることによって)。したがって、原子文と複合文の真理に対して統一的な説明が可能であるという特徴をもって非実質的真理概念特有の利点であると見なすことはできない。2 非実質的真理概念は真理を「文Sは真である=S」という図式で捉えているため表面上は実質的真理概念を用いていないように思われる。しかし、この図式を支えている構造を明示した場合、実質的真理概念を導入することが不可欠ではないかという疑念が生じる。これは例えばラムジーの真理余剰説の場合において顕著である。なぜなら、ラムジーは文Sの意味とは何かという問題にプラグマティズムの観点から答えようとしており、このことが真理図式「文Sは真である=S」を支える深層構造にプラグマティズムの真理概念を潜ませる結果になっているからである。
