This prupose of this study was to examine the policy of the state towards Buddhism in the Nara Period. There is a general consensus that the state used Buddhism in this period for its own ends, as a milder form of state Buddhism. This syudy examined this interpretation by using the "Records of the Sutra-copying Office" (shakyojo chobo) for information concerning the great sutra-copying project known as the "Later Tripitaka" (goshaissaikyo) begun in 746. both the "Records" and the tripitaka are preserved in the "Shosoin Documents".This study concluded that the emperor, who was responsible for the policy of promoting Buddhism, ordered the production of a tripitaka in order to establish himself as an outstanding sponsor of Buddhism. Another aspect of this study was that it was possible to provide a startingpoint for gaining a systematic understanding of the role of "chobo" (record book or ledger book) with in the overall system of keeping records within the bureaucratic system of the Ancient Japanese State.

本研究的目的是考察奈良时期国家对佛教的政策。人们普遍认为，这个时期的国家为了自己的目的而利用佛教，作为国家佛教的一种较温和的形式。这篇论文通过使用“抄经办公室的记录”(Shakyojo Chobo)来检查这种解释，以获取有关746年开始的被称为“后来的大藏经”(Gohaissaikyo)的伟大抄经项目的信息。《周易》和《大藏经》都保存在《修宗文献》中。本文认为，负责宣扬佛教政策的皇帝为了确立自己作为佛教杰出赞助者的地位，下令制作了一部大藏经。这项研究的另一个方面是，有可能提供一个起点，以便系统地了解“Chobo”(记录簿或分类账簿)在古代日本国家的官僚体系内保存记录的整个系统中的作用。
