项目摘要

本研究の目標は、第二言語学習者の多義的な語彙の習得に関わる、母語の影響と学習者に共通する影響を多義性パタンの観点から明らかにすることである。初年度は、実験対象語を選定し、テスト文を作成するため、以下の3つの調査を行った。①多義語辞典を用いた調査：本研究で対象とする英語と日本語において、多義性パタンが具体的にどのように表れるのかを多義語辞典を用いて調査した。2年目に行う学習者を対象とした調査では、母語の影響を見たいため、英語と日本語の対象語で1対1の翻訳ができない用法を複数持つ多義語を抽出した。それらの用例をもとに、1つの語に対して2文ずつのテスト文を作成することができた。②日英バイリンガルに対する翻訳語調査：日英バイリンガルを対象に、①で作成したテスト文に対して、翻訳テストを実施した。この調査の結果をもとに、①のテスト文の中から、それぞれの語に対するテスト文のペアで、同じ語を使って翻訳されたものを除き、テスト文を精緻化した。これらの調査を動詞と名詞に対してそれぞれ実施し、英語の動詞と名詞の対象語の選出およびテスト文の作成が完了した。③母語話者に対する関連性の調査：英語母語話者に対して、用例間の関連性の強さを尋ねる調査を実施した。②で作成した1つの語に対する2つのテスト文には、関連性の強さに差があると仮定し、母語話者がどのように認識しているのか先行研究に従い調査した。その結果をもとに関連性が高いと判断されたペアと、低いと判断されたペアに分け、SD値が大きいものは除き、最終的なテスト文の決定に至った。
