项目摘要

各班の進捗状況の概要は以下のとおりである。総括班:国際シンポジウム(「国際社会の日本語」),および研究報告会を実施するとともに,本プロジェクトの評価および企画推進に努めた。研究班1(センサス):「日本語観国際センサス」のための調査票を完成させ世界15カ国において本調査を実施した。また,アメリカミシガン大学の日本語学専攻の学生を対象にセンサスデータと対照するための事例調査を行った。この他,国内でメディア調査を継続するとともに長野五輪を契機とした日本人の外国語意識調査,言語政策研究会などを実施した。研究班2(文化摩擦):理論的研究チーム国際化に伴う多文化・多言語状況の中に置かれた日本語自身が実は国際的に多様化しているということを認識できたのが今年度の大きな成果である。この認識を基に日本語のあり方を考えてゆくことが今後の研究指針となる。社会言語学的研究チーム刺激ビデオを用いた調査を場面を拡大して継続した。対象は,日本在住の英・仏・朝・ブラジルポルトガル・ベトナム語母語話者およびアメリカ・フランス・韓国・ブラジル在住の日本語母語話者。日本国内各地域の日本人を対象とした同様の調査,日本国内各地域の新来外国人と日本人のネットワークへの参与観察についても継続した。研究班3(実験言語):文字研究チーム日本語表記形態の主観的表記頻度や漢字の出現頻度の基準表作成とその心理学的検討,これらの一部を外国人の日本語学習者に適応した研究,日本語に関する心理言語学的研究文献のまとめ,のいずれも当初計画をほぼ達成できた。音声研究チーム国際シンポジウム「21世紀の日本語音声教育に向けて」を主催し,国内外の日本語教育担当者による,音声教育の教材,教授法の開発,音声教育専門教師要請の必要性などについて議論を行った。また,日本語学習者のアクセント知覚テストの分析を進めた。計算機実験チーム分類語彙表増補版に表記情報と語種情報を追加し,機械検索のためのプログラムを作成した。中国人による日本語作文,日本人による中国語作文を対象に母語の影響,語彙選択について調査分析した。研究班4(情報発信):同時通訳研究チーム放送通訳の日本語に関する受け手調査を実施した。また通訳・翻訳研究会を主宰した。漢字符号研究チームクライアント・サーバ環境における日本語と中国語の混在入力処理で,構造化4バイトコードに属性情報を付加することの重要性を実験により示した。コーパス研究チーム明治期雑誌の計算機入力を行うとともに一部資料について文字頻度調査を行い異体字の整理分析を行った。言語教育研究チーム「日本の音声言語教育の振興」「他教材の教科書の言語表現」「帰国子女への日本語教育」を考えるために,各教科教師や教育行政関係者に対する言語教育のあり方に関する質問紙調査の準備,定例研究会と国際シンポジウムの開催,小学校算数・社会科授業の映像資料の収集,各教科の言葉の現状調査,帰国および外国人児童・生徒への言語教育の調査を行った。
