项目摘要

本研究では異なる言語を母語とする英語学習者を対象に, 文構造理解プロセスを眼球運動計測（アイトラッキング）実験により実証的な検証を行なっている. 具体的には, 単語レベルの音素情報理解と文レベルのプロソディー情報理解でどのような予測的処理が行われているか. また, 日本語とフランス語という異なる言語を母語とする英語学習者の英語音声文理解を観測することで母語の語順と音声情報が第二言語の理解にどう影響するかについての実験を行うとともに, そのデータを用いて (1)母語理解及び第二言語理解にどの様な情報が利用され,どこまで詳細な予測的処理が行われているか. (2)その予測プロセスは, 状況下における特有な統計情報によりどう変化するか. (3)第二言語学習者の文処理は母語の言語情報にどの程度影響を受けるのか. の3点を明らかに分析を行った. 分析においては, パーミュテーション検定を取り入れることで, 一般化線形混合モデルなどこれまで時系列のデータの分析に一般的に用いられてきた統計分析で指摘される問題を回避した高度な統計解析を行った. さらに, 研究のサブテーマとして, ウェブカメラを用いた眼球運動計測技術を言語実験に応用し,リモートで収集した実験データの検証を行う準備も行っている. これらにより, 母語と第二言語理解における音声情報理解メカニズムの違いを議論するとともに, 分析手法と新しい研究手法の確立につなげることを目指している.
