(1)統合型エネルギーシステム(IES)に関する研究:まず国内外の従来の研究状況を調査しIESの特徴と問題を明らかにした. 我国に適用する場合, 非化石エネルギーを大幅に取り入れる必要があり, また現状との連続性を考えると, 石油・天然ガスについては, 従来の利用パターンをある程度活かす必要があろう. そのため原子力については, a.すべて発電源として一部夜間電力をCO,H_2変換に利用する, b.核熱をCO,CH_3OH変換に用いる, 等が考えられる. またIESの重要な要素である純酸素燃焼は環境面で大きな利点があるものの, 空気深冷分離のコストが高いので, 従来の脱硝・CO_2回収技術との経済性比較を行なっている. また, 運輸燃料としては, メタノールないし一部ガソリンの利用を考慮した検討を行なっている. さらに, 発電源の適正規模に関する実証的検討を行なったところ, 我が国の場合は稼働率等である程度の規模のデメリットが存在することが示されている.(2)都市民生部門におけるロードマネージメントの研究 a.モデルによる理論分析:電力・ガス競合モデルを用いて, 供給者の利益率と社会的厚生の相関について検討し, そのトレードオフ関係を明らかにした. b.需要特性の分析:とくに冷暖房・給湯に関して検討した. c.方策の検討:モデル分析や欧米における実施例の調査, エネルギー関連企業のヒアリングを行ない, 具体的な方策と効果について検討している.(3)分散エネルギーシステムのポテンシャルの評価に関する研究:地区別エネルギー需要や関連する社会経済指標に関して, データベースを更新し, 使用目的別エネルギー需要の地区別特性を分析した. その結果, 所得, 気温の他, 冷房分では人口密度, 暖房分では住宅床面積, ベース分では世帯人員が有力な説明変数となることが確認され, エネルギーモデルを大きく改良した結果, エネルギー需要の予測精度を向上させた.
