本年度の計画としては、(1).イギリスを中心とした欧米諸国の刑罰史関係文献・資料を収集すると共に、各国の刑罰が、どのような政治的・経済的・社会的状況の下で生まれ変遷していったのかという点をもあわせて把握するために、各国の政治史・経済史・社会史関係の文献・資料を収集すること、(2).収集した文献・資料を翻訳・整理した上で、欧米諸国の刑罰史の流れを、政治・経済・社会史という広い観点でとらえ、とりわけイギリスの刑罰史が他の国々にどのような影響を与え、あるいは、どのような影響を受けてきたのかということを明確にしつつ、イギリスでの監獄体制の誕生とその後の転回の様子を概観すること、(3).本年度の研究成果を、本学の専門雑誌である「比較法雑誌」に掲載すること、の三点を予定していた。まず、(1)については、Crime and Punishment in England 1850ー1922.30巻、British Journal of Delinquency.26巻を始め、刑罰史関係の内外の基本的文献・資料を本年度科研費より購入し、(2)については、本研究代表者の主催する、中央大学犯罪学研究会の定例会(本年度は、昭和63年2月3日、同年3月26日、同年4月22日、同年5月13日、同年7月20日、同年9月30日、平成元年1月20日の7回)、および、昭和63年8月初旬に実施された夏期合宿において、(1)で収集した文献・資料の翻訳を順次発表し、その内容を検討することによって、イギリスでの監獄体制の誕生と転回を明確にしようとする作業を行った。そして、(3)については、平成元年4月30日〓切の「比較法雑誌」23巻2号分に、本年度の研究成果を発表するべく、現在、論文を執筆中である。
