本研究は、生涯スポーツ環境の整備に有効な資料を提供するため、増大した自由裁量時間の配分に焦点を当て、スポーツ活動を定期的に実施している人々の生活時間配分の実態を明らかにすることを目的とした。この目的を達成するために以下の手順で研究を実施している。1.調査対象の選定調査対象を選定するにあたっては、定期的なスポーツ活動実施者であること、調査の趣旨をよく理解して協力していただける対象であることを考慮して、神戸市の垂水区団地スポーツ協会のバレーボール部を選定した。同協会は昭和44年に発足した民間スポーツ団体で、積極的な活動を展開している。また、中でもバレーボール部は、20〜60歳代の幅広い年齢層から構成されており、本調査に最適であると考えている。2.調査票の作成調査票の作成にあたって、同協会の事務局長並びにバレーボール部の部長さんを交えて、2度に亙る調査内容の検討を実施した。その結果を考慮して、会員のスポーツ活動日の生活時間、スポーツ活動と他の活動とのやりくりの実際、スポーツ活動がライフスタイルに及ぼす影響などの項目を含む調査票を作成した。3.調査の実施調査票の印刷を終えて発送をする寸前になって、同地域が関西大震災の被害を受けた。直ちに、同協会の関係者と協議をした結果、現在はこれまでどおりのスポーツ活動が実施されていないため、生活およびスポーツ活動が正常化するのを持って調査を再開する事が望ましいという結論に達した。現在、この調査は一時の中断をしている。
