本年度は、「アーシュラマワーサパルワ」および「スワルガローハナパルワ」について、前年度の写本資料調査にもとづく文献情報により既刊本および主要な写本の複写をもとに、テキスト読解とサンスクリット原典との対照をおこなった。昨年度に扱った2つのパルワよりも長編であり、かつ不十分な刊本が1つしか存在しないゆえ、既刊本のテキストと写本の対照から、刊本の校訂の問題点が明らかになり、今後のテキスト再校訂の必要があらためて認識された。サンスクリット引用詩句の対照、およびストーリーの展開の比較にあたっては、サンスクリットと古ジャワ語双方で異読も含めて比較対照をおこなった。昨年度の研究成果と総合すれば、『マハーバーラタ』の最終4巻の古ジャワ世界への伝承の特徴としては次の点が明らかにされた。1.古ジャワ版に引用されるサンスクリット引用詩句は、古ジャワでの伝承過程における音韻の転訛は顕著ながら、それに続く抄訳は正確である。一部の引用詩句およびエピソードは、サンスクリットの北方版に読みが近似する南方版からの翻案を示唆している。2.ごく一部のジャワ的なエピソードの混入をのぞけば、サンスクリット原典にかなり忠実なストーリー展開となっており、用いられている表現からも翻案者のサンスクリットの語学および文学の理解が深いことを伺わせる。なお、9月にバリで行われた「第2回国際マハーバーラタ・ラーマーヤナ学会」に参加して、本研究による成果の一部を発表したことも、本年度の研究実績の一つである。
