In general, how to arouse learning motivation in physical education class of pupils has been a basic and critical theme in a long-term school education. In this study, a Diagnostic System of Learning Motivation in P.E.Class was developed to provide useful information to teachers who try to arouse the learning motivation of pupils. The system is a kind of multiphasic test and includes following test batteries.1. Learning Motivation in P.E.Class : Shortened Version of the AMPET (Nishida, 1989)(1) Learning Strategy, (2) Overcoming Obstacles, (3) Diligence and Seriousness, (4) Competence of Motor Ability, (5) Value of Leaning, (6) Tension Anxiety, (7) Failure Anxiety2. Types of Learning Motivation(1) Motivation Type, (2) Average Type, (3) Conflict Type, (4) Amotivation Type, (5) Anxiety Type, (6) Competence related Anxiety Type3. Support Factors of Learning Motivation(1) Interest of P.E class, (2) Goal Setting, (3) Expectancy of Improvement, (4) Teacher's Guidance, (5) Friend's Support, (6 … More ) Moods in P.E class, (7) Physical Health4. Preference for Learning Behaviors(1) Individual Learning, (2) Group Learning, (3) Careful Learning, (4) Active Learning, (5) Competitive Learning5. Interest of Another Subjects(1) Japanese, (2) Mathematics, (3) Science, (4) Sociology, (5) Music, (6) Drawing and Manual Arts, (7) Physical Education, (8) Homemaking, (9) Moral Education, (10) General Learning6. Interest of Another Activities, etc.(1) Studying , (2) Sport, (3) Play Inside, (4) Play Outside, (5) Watching T.V, 6) Listening Music, (7) Singing Songs, (8) Reading Comic Books, (9) Reading Novels Except Comic Books, (10) Drawing Pictures, (11) Making Something, (12) Enjoyment of Present P.E ClassIn view of the results, it was concluded that the system developed in this study was useful to diagnose the learning motivation in physical education class of pupils. Further practical studies for the next step are necessary to use this system and to arouse learning motivation in physical education class of pupils. Less
