项目摘要

最終年度である本年度は、これまでの歴史的研究に理論的な集約をほどこし、その知見にもとづいて現代社会の異文化コミュニケーションと他者認識の位相の分析がなされた。歴史的に見た場合、異文化間のコミュニケーション不全は認識における対象・他者の疎外が原因ではない。むしろコミュニケーションの不全は言説の希少性に由来している。たしかにコミュニケーションとは関係的な出来事のあらわれではあるが、それが双方向的な認証の行為であるというのは幻想である。コミュニケーション行為がそもそも非対称的な出来事である以上、コミュニケーションが安定している状態とは行為者の属する言説空間(あるいは社会)が接触における干渉を除去されている状態である。換言すれば複数の文化が並びたつということは、それぞれの意味内容が理解され承認されているということをあらわしているのではなく、それぞれの言説空間において妥当な表象による記号化がなされているということである。したがって、コミュニケーションの不全は関係的な解れを指示しているのではなく、それを処理する言説(あるいは言説の元手となる表象)の希少性から記号化の配分を再編成するという言説空間内部の出来事なのである。こうしたことをコミュニケーションの異形接続として理論化した。この異形接続から現代社会を考察すると、ボードリヤールの指摘する他者の透明化はコミュニケーションにおける他者の疎外と理解されるべきものではない。むしろこの出来事は、コミュニケーションを他者という表象を経由して記号化することが高度化された消費社会・情報化社会においては記号化の技術として不適切であることを指示している。そうした意味で現代社会は言説の再編成の渦中にあり、とくに9.11同時多発テロ以降、敵対的な他者イメージにもとづく二元化された世界像とは、他者がコミュニケーションを一定の様態に留めおく機能的な表象にすぎなかったことを物語っている。
