バイオマスリファイナリー産物を酵素や固体酸など環境低負荷な触媒を活用して、新規循環型グリーンサーファクタントの創成を図った。脂肪酸、コハク酸やフマル酸とその還元体であるジオール類、およびジメチルカーボネートを基本原料とした。具体的には、生分解性とケミカルリサイクル性を有する新規ジェミニ型カチオン界面活性剤の開発、多糖のアシル化、長鎖スルフィド含有ポリカルボン酸塩のサーファクタントビルダーへなどを中心に展開を図った。
