The monitor corpus of the Japanese English textbooks created so far was updated and expanded and the English textbooks used in the Asian countries were added to examine quantitatively and qualitatively what was lacking in the Japanese system, especially with regard to vocabulary, structures, grammatical items, topics, and socio-cultural factors.The international symposia and a series of public lectures and workshops were also held to find the future direction of the English education in Japan by examining the current state of English education in Japan and Asian countries and the problems they face, sharing the new findings in the field of Englishteaching and English studies together with the methodologies of dealing with the corpus data. A report covering them was published in the final stage.

迄今为止编写的日本英语教科书的监测语料库得到了更新和扩充，亚洲国家使用的英语教科书也得到了补充，以便从数量和质量上检查日本系统的不足之处，特别是在词汇、结构、语法项目、主题和社会文化因素方面。此外，还举办了国际研讨会和一系列的公开讲座及工作坊，探讨日本及亚洲国家英语教育的现状和面临的问题，分享英语教学和英语研究领域的新发现，以及语料库数据的处理方法，以寻找日本英语教育的未来方向。在最后阶段发表了一份报告。
