炎症のメディエーターであるTNF(腫瘍壊死因子)は、その受容体が歯周炎を含む炎症性疾患においてTNFの制御の点で大きく病態に関与していることが近年明らかになってきている。我々はこれまでに慢性歯周患者において、血清中ならびに歯周炎局所における可容型TNF受容体の1型と2型の不均衡が歯周炎の重症化に影響すること、TNF受容体2型+587遺伝子多型が慢性歯周炎に遺伝子学的に関与することを明らかにしてきた。本研究の目的は歯周炎におけるTNF受容体2型遺伝子多型の機能をin vitroにおいて解明することであった。本研究によりTNFR2型+587遺伝子多型と慢性歯周炎患者血清中IL-6濃度との間の関連が示唆された。遺伝子多型と歯周炎との関係を明らかにする一助となったと考えられる。
