ガラス長繊維を使用した歯科用FRP(Fiber Reinforced Plastics)を歯科領域の入れ歯へ応用することを目的として新規開発を行った。開発した歯科用FRPを実際の総入れ歯形態をした試料に補強材として応用すると、1mmの厚さで強度が約1.4倍に増加し、従来の金属補強と同等の強さを示し、厚さを1.5mmにすると約1.7倍に増加した。これらの結果から、新規開発した歯科用FRPは入れ歯の補強材として有用なことが明らかになった。
