We investigated the association between foods and nutrients intake and the prevalence of periodontal disease among 1180 Japanese young women. Compared with alcohol consumption at the lowest quartile, its intake at the highest level was significantly associated with a higher prevalence of periodontal diseases,showing a dose-response relationship (odds ratio = 1.81, 95% confidence interval : 1.07-3.13, p for trend = 0.02).
