The Miyako dialects of Ryukyuan are regarded as endangered languages and, like other Ryukyuan dialects, it is important that they be recorded as soon as possible. This study has visually clarified the regional characteristics of the Miyako dialects by making linguistic maps of nouns which have already been collected and researched in past fieldwork. In addition, widespread fieldwork, which focused on the under-researched verbal conjugation of Miyako dialects, was undertaken and many basic sentences of Miyako dialects were successfully collected. Other linguistic maps are now being drawn on the basis of the newly collected data.
