本研究は、第一に、今までの研究成果をもとに分担執筆者として『福祉政治』を刊行した。同書のなかで論文「ワークフェアと福祉政治」を担当し、再編期の福祉国家においてワークフェアが普及する一般的条件を整理するとともに、そのなかにアメリカの福祉改革を位置づけて公的扶助制度が抜本的に改革された理由を明らかにした。第二に、編者や分担執筆者との研究会をもとに分担執筆者として『公共性の福祉社会学』を刊行した。同書のなかで論文「ワークフェアと労働」を担当し、ワークフェアの本質を労働統制機能とする分析視角を構築し、ワークフェアについての政策と抵抗運動を分析し、公正な社会の一条件を探求した。第三に、論文「キャッシュ・フォー・ワークとワークフェア」を刊行し、東日本大震災からの復興支援を批判的に検討し、震災前後に一貫して所得保障が重要であることを明らかにした。第四に、論文「生活保護のワークフェア改革と地方分権化」を刊行し、放射能汚染からの長距離避難を保障するために生活保護を有効に活用するという問題意識のもと、地方分権化のなかに位置づけながら生活保護改革を展望し課題を明らかにした。他方で、第一に、2012年5月31日から6月1にかけて、宮城県でフィールドワークを実施し、石巻市・南三陸町で視察、および気仙沼市の復興協会で見学を行い、その成果をもとに、福祉社会学会で報告を行った。第二に、2012年8月16日から9月6日にかけて、ニューヨーク市でフィールドワークを実施し、福祉受給者の擁護団体での見学、福祉受給者団体の元メンバーへのインタビューを行い、その成果の一部を著書やエッセイにして刊行した。第三に、日本の生活保護改革の動向について、ワークフェアとベーシックインカムを関連づけながら考察を行い、国際学会で報告を行った。第四に、福祉社会学の入門書においてワークフェアについての項目を担当し、一般読者にも分かりやすい解説を執筆した。
