初年度にあたる2022年度は、研究実施計画に従い、近代的女性像の構築と女性誌の関係に関する最新の先行研究を収集し、本研究を進めるために必要な情報や背景的知識、理論的枠組みを把握することに努めた。それに加え、研究発表2件、研究論文1本、翻訳1本において研究成果を発信することができた。イギリスの国際学会Women's History Network 2022 Annual Conferenceでは、近代的女性像の構築に大きな役割を果たした女性参政権運動をテーマにしたパネル11: Activism and the Fight for Suffrageで、イギリスのサフラジェットConstance Lyttonの回想録を取り上げ、“Constance Lytton’s Protest against Forced Feeding"と題した研究発表をし、司会のSarah Richardsonらと質疑応答を行った。そして、この時のディスカッションを踏まえ、発表原稿に加筆修正を施し、研究成果を論文にまとめた（2023年3月刊行）。また、本務校である実践女子大学の下田歌子記念女性総合研究所からの依頼により、Linda Johnsonの“Meiji Women’s Educators as Public Intellectuals: Shimoda Utako and Tsuda Umeko"の翻訳に取り組み(2023年2月刊行)、19世紀末から20世紀初頭に欧米で得た知見を活かし日本の女子教育改革に尽力した下田歌子と津田梅子の思想と活動を、イギリスの女子教育改革と比較する機会を得た。また、その際に行ったリサーチに基づき、「『発信する知識人』――海外における下田歌子の受容」と題した研究発表を行った。
