This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. In the past year the ART Core has conducted RIAs for the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) as well as several other PIs at the TNPRC. All RIA assays utilized kits were purchased from Diagnostic Products Corporation. These kits include standards, I125 labeled hormone, and tubes bound with specific antibody. The assay is a competitive binding assay. Results were determined based on the amount of labeled hormone bound to the tubes and compared to the standards. A computer program developed at the TNPRC was used to establish as ¿best fit¿ curve and results were provided to the investigators within 6 to 48 hours of the assay, depending on the number of samples assayed. The number of assays included determination of serum concentration for estradiol (1626 assays) cortisol (1338 assays) ) and progesterone (394 assays).
