英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. HBsIC formulations consist of immunostimulatory DNA sequences (ISS) conjugated to hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsIC-1018). The objective of this experiment is to assess the effect of injection route ¿ intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous administration (SC) - on the immune response of baboons to HBsAg + HBsIC-1018 formulation. An HBsAg-1018 ISS conjugate has been previously tested in baboons and it showed strong antibody responses to HBsAg when administered via intramuscular injection. However HBsAg-1018 ISS formulation has never been tested in baboons via the subcutaneous route. This experiment will help determine if immunization route can enhance the humoral and cell mediated immune responses of baboons to HBsAg. This study may be beneficial to society since it will help in the development of a new / improved HBV vaccine.
