Examine the efficacy of once-weekly alendronate and daily calcium and vitamin D in the treatment of HIV-associated decreased bone mineral density as assessed by percent change in lumbar spine bone mineral density from baseline to week 48 in subjects receiving alendronate vs placebo. Assess the safety and tolerability of once-weekly alendronate in HIV-infected subjects.
