This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The use of the Histology and Imaging Core has continued to increase with the addition of new faculty to the COBRE group. As in past years we have used COBRE funding provided to the Core to provide support for the Target Investigators and New Hires so that they do not have to pay for services within the School of Medicine Instrumentation Resource Facility, which is the administrative home for the instrumentation and technical resources provided to COBRE Investigators. This significantly enhances their access to available resources within the Core. Most investigators in the COBRE have used the histology and immunohistochemistry facilities provided in the Core. In addition, many (Dixon, Buckhaults, Carson, Hofseth, Muga, Smith, Thompson, Lavigne and others) have used additional equipment in the IRF including confocal microscopy, fluorescence stereomicroscopy, BioPlex cytokine arrays, laser capture microdissection, etc. to enhance their COBRE related research.
