This is an application for hardware and software that will allow us to perform precise 3D image reconstruction from confocal microscopy images of a variety of organisms, organs and tissues that are visualized with fluorescently labeled antibodies or that are expression fluorescent proteins. The equipment will support significant aspects of the research programs of the six applicants, with sufficient capacity to allow new users to adopt this technology. The equipment will be made available to users for a minimal user fee, to partially defray the costs of maintenance and upgrades. It will be accessible through the central microscopy facility in the Department of Biological Sciences.
