英文摘要
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is an essential tool in chemistry departments around the world. NMR is used to characterize structures, dynamic behaviour and chemical reactivity at the level of molecules and atoms. In the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor, there are 5 active NMR spectrometers, which are used by 11 research groups and over 55 users, including undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, technicians and faculty members. The most important research tool in our department is the Bruker 500 MHz NMR spectrometer, which has the largest superconducting magnet, provides the highest signal-to-noise ratio and best spectral resolution, and can be utilized for both liquid and solid samples (which is unique among our spectrometers). We can observe NMR spectra of a variety of isotopes of important elements, including 1H, 13C, 15N, 19F, 29Si, 31P and numerous others. This spectrometer is our departmental workhorse, supporting research programs in many branches of chemistry, including organic, inorganic, materials, organometallic, biological and solid-state chemistry.
