The chemical industry represents one of the largest sectors of industial economies worldwide and plays a key role in producing materials critical for modern living, disease-fighting pharmaceuticals, and energy needs. Unfortunately, economic development has also brought climate changes and environmental deterioration, causing serious social and health concerns. The concept of Green Chemistry provides a new approach in reconciling production, economy, and environmental issues by creating new scientific foundations based on the principle of sustainability and efficiency.
