The detection of low concentrations of multiple chemical, biological and/or physiological substances is often necessary in the healthcare sector and various environments. Flexible shape, conformable sensor system technologies have an important advantage over conventional non-flexible sensor systems built on rigid substrates in these applications. According to a report published by "Research and Markets" in July 2014, the revenue for the global flexible electronics (flexible batteries, sensors and displays) market is estimated to grow from $3.4 billion in 2013 to $13.23 billion in 2020. Technological breakthroughs are critical to driving flexible sensor system technology, including novel materials and next generation equipment to do rapid prototyping.
