Bandha Nutrition Products (BNP) launched in 2012 with three main products- gluten free, vegan, and soy-free energy bars. The bars contain no processed sugars and are a source of omega-3, fiber, iron and protein. Since the launch of these energy bars, popularity has skyrocketed and the company has since launched their fourth energy bar. Currently BNP products can be found in 53 locations in Atlantic Canada (specialty stores, farmers markets, and coffee shops). As the company grows, it is seeking methods to improve its market access. Challenges related to packaging and shelf life are required to be addressed prior to BNP products entering into more retailers (such as Sobeys and Superstore) regionally and nationally. BNP is seeking Canada's Smartest Kitchen (CSK) at Holland College's support to determine appropriate packaging options to increase the shelf life, help BNP modify their processes and production lines to meet strict safety regulations currently preventing them from entering large scale retailers, incorporate more local ingredients into the formulations reducing costs without compromising flavours and to maximize the efficiency of the production line of the bars.
