Development of a Software for Policing Procedures with Mobile Capabilities

Holland College's Computer Information Systems (CIS) Program and the Atlantic Police Academy (APA), in collaboration with CheckMate Solutions Inc., will design and test a new policing software with mobile capabilities. This software is designed to reduce errors and omissions at the scene of events by providing a real-time step by step procedure to evaluate and analyze a situation or criminal offence. These procedures will be based on a series of verified checklists of standards to aide law enforcement officers and eventually be modified to also aide fire fighters, fisheries and oceans officers, and conservation officers. The development of this software will lead to commercialization of this product by CheckMate Solutions, new design skills for several IT students, and hands on training for an entire class of policing students.
