This project aims at developing an optical probe with new capabilities for spectroscopy measurements. With this new probe, it will be possible to perform both polarized measurements and to detect simultaneously Stokes and Anti-Stokes contributions. This probe will be based around a single mode optical fiber for both the excitation and the collection and will be connected to our existing spectrometer and laser source. The probe will be initially designed for intense use in teaching environment and will have all safety-related issues will be adressed such as laser protection. The probe will be conceived within a collaboration with HORIBA Canada who will provide engineering support and in-kind contribution with the goal to have a preliminary version of this product over the course of this Engage grant. Within 6 months the probe will be designed, fabricated, calibrated and tested in the Lagugné-Labarthet research laboratory that has developped a unique expertise in vibrational spectroscopy in Canada. The demonstration of such probe will lead to further fabrication at Horiba with the potential to be commercialized.
