This research project explores the use of polymer alloys as drug delivery systems. Sustained long term deliveryof pharmaceutical compounds is and extremely challenging tasks and requires the development of complexdelivery systems. Such systems must be biocompatible, biodegradable and minimally invasive in order toperform over long period of time. The use of polymer alloys appears to be a straightforward solution to thistechnological problem. They offer unprecedent versatility in terms of control of erosion rate and activecompound release as well as unmatched biocompatibility profile. The proposed study will establish thefundamental properties of polymer alloys as drug delivery systems and will provide the industrial partner with astrong knowledge of their potential performances in biomedical devices such as implants.
