RCS Energy Services Ltd. provides multidisciplinary engineering and integrated services in mining, oil and gas, water and project management. RCS Energy Services has developed a proprietary technology to treat and remediate crude oil-laden produced sand and drill cuttings that is capable of returning contaminated soils and water to the environment, while also permitting enhanced recovery of hydrocarbons that would otherwise remain in the waste stream. In 2017, the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and RCS Energy Services collaborated on a project in which the soil cutting and remediation process was reviewed and the technology tested; the project confirmed that the process is capable of separating hydrocarbons from the solid waste produced by the oil and gas industry. In the project proposed herein for NSERC Applied Research and Development funding, the SAIT Environmental Technologies research group will work with RCS Energy Services to further optimize the soil cutting and remediation process in preparation for field trials and technology validation. ******
