Craving Asian Foods Ltd., formally known as Goobi Gummies (GG) is a confectionery company thatmanufactures gummy candy for adults in British Columbia. Their range of products focuses on using highquality natural ingredients to create artisanal products that are in high demand across the province. GoobiGummies has engaged Holland College's Canada's Smartest Kitchen (CSK) for help in developing commercial formulations for a low sugar, high protein-based gummy candy based on three prototype flavours. This project will require R&D into alternative sweeteners, bulking agents, such as chicory fiber, plant proteins and flavour masking agents to create these unique gummy products. CSK, a Technology Access Center, actively supports research and innovation in the food and beverage sector by leveraging expertise in food science, culinarycreativity and business and marketing expertise. It is this combination of skill sets that help companies de-risk their R&D initiatives and get products successfully to market. CSK has significant experience in theconfectionery space and through this collaboration, will expect to develop and scale up production of aninnovative low sugar, high protein gummy candy that would be unique to the snack food market.
