Wireless private wireless networks offer many advantages to companies, which include flexible and adaptable deployment of applications and services, and managed connectivity of personnel and devices cost effectively. These networks can be deployed in various segments of the industries such as oil and pulp, public safety and smart city, and are currently based on 4G LTE mobile network solutions. They operate on open-standards that allow the optimum selection of hardware and software deployment options for different applications. Dynamic nature of wireless connections in emerging 5G wireless systems that support legacy applications along with dense IoT sensor devices and autonomous vehicles, bring about new challenges in adaptively providing bandwidth and speed with required quality of service. In order to evolve the current networks and provide new services to emerging bandwidth-hungry ultra-low latency applications, we need to develop new deployment options that can effectively handle adaptive requirements in heterogeneous networks. In this project, we will develop a robust resource allocation scheme by jointly optimizing the codebook and power allocation in the downlink of the radio access networks, where the utilization of SCMA in RANs is expected to improve spectral efficiency.
