We are aiming to commercialize a novel bias-switchable row-column 2D ultrasound transducer technology with first application to high-resolution 3D imaging in pre-clinical markets. For high-frequencies, such arrays do not exist due to fabrication challenges and readout difficulties. However, there is significant demand for such arrays for both pre-clinical and clinical markets. We first aim to develop 10-20MHz prototypes for commercialization in pre-clinical markets. If aims of this grant are successful, we will aim to spin-off a company which would partner with two key companies, FUJIFILM Visualsonics and Verasonics for selling such array sub-systems along with imaging platforms sold by these partners. They have provided support letters. Success in pre-clinical arenas would then position the potential spin-off for launching into larger clinical markets.
